Operator summary
Foreign private and charter flights into or over Egypt need a permit from the Egyptian Civil Aviation Authority (ECAA). Private non-revenue and charter flights follow the same permit process. Egypt asks for detailed passenger and crew data, so prepare the full list early.

What Egypt asks for
Egypt is known for detailed permit requests. Expect to provide:
- Aircraft details and full itinerary
- Captain details
- Passenger and crew list with full names, dates of birth, nationalities and passport numbers and expiry dates
- A clear purpose of visit. A general word like “business” may not be enough.
- The lead passenger, for landing permits
- Egyptian nationals arriving or departing, listed in the first request
Overflight-only requests usually need less: aircraft, captain, number on board and itinerary.

- Air Operator Certificate, for commercial flights
Changes need a revised permit
Changes to the schedule, routing, aircraft or passengers usually need a permit revision. Send changes as soon as you know them. Do not assume the original permit still covers the flight.
Restrictions to check
Some nationalities of aircraft registration face limits. Cabotage, meaning carrying passengers between two Egyptian airports, is restricted for foreign aircraft. Some routes, such as to and from certain neighbouring states, can take longer to approve. Check the current AIP and NOTAMs for restricted areas.
Handling and fuel are separate
