Aircraft Fuelling Services in Africa
AAES coordinates aircraft fuelling across Africa. We arrange Jet A-1, Jet A, Avgas and SAF uplifts, confirm supplier availability before you depart, and supervise the uplift on arrival. Our operations base is at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi. The desk runs 24 hours a day.

What fuel coordination covers
Fuel is rarely the problem on paper. It becomes a problem when the uplift is assumed rather than confirmed. Availability, supplier coverage, payment method, uplift timing and documentation all vary by airport and by country. A stop that works at one African gateway may not work the same way at the next one.
AAES handles that gap. We confirm the detail before the aircraft moves.
Supplier confirmation
We check which suppliers serve your airport and whether the grade you need is on hand. We confirm this before departure, not on arrival.
Uplift timing
Bowsers are often shared across the ramp. We book the uplift against your slot so fuelling does not become the reason a turnaround slips.
Payment and release
Accepted payment methods differ by supplier and by country. Carnet, card, prepayment and credit terms are not interchangeable. We confirm what will be accepted before the aircraft arrives.
Ramp supervision
Our team attends the uplift, checks the delivery against the request, and collects the paperwork. You get the figures you need for the tech log without chasing them later.
Quantity and density
Your flight plan gives fuel in kilograms. The fueller usually delivers in litres. Density changes with temperature and batch. We check the conversion at the point of uplift so the figure on the ticket matches the figure you planned.
Fuel grades we coordinate
Select the grade your operation needs.
- Jet A-1 fuel. The standard turbine fuel across Africa, Europe and Asia. Used by airliners, business jets and turboprops.
- Jet A fuel. Mainly a North American grade. Confirm availability early if your operation calls for it in Africa.
- Avgas. For piston aircraft. Coverage across African airfields is uneven and needs advance coordination.
- Sustainable aviation fuel. Availability in the region is limited and site specific. We will tell you plainly whether it can be arranged at your stop.
Fuel coordination in Kenya
Kenya is our home base and the station we know best. Our office is at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi. We coordinate uplifts at Kenya’s main gateways and at the regional fields operators actually use.
- Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Nairobi (NBO / HKJK). Kenya’s main international gateway. Long haul, cargo and scheduled traffic.
- Wilson Airport, Nairobi (WIL / HKNW). General aviation, charter, medevac and safari operations.
- Moi International Airport, Mombasa (MBA / HKMO). The coastal gateway and a common technical stop.
- Eldoret International Airport (EDL / HKEL). Cargo, charter and regional operations in the North Rift.

Common questions
How far in advance should fuel be arranged in Africa?
As early as the route is known. Lead time varies by airport, grade and supplier. Some stops can be confirmed the same day. Others need several days, especially for Avgas or for large uplifts at smaller fields.
Is Jet A-1 available at Kenyan airports?
Jet A-1 can be coordinated at Kenya’s main gateways. Availability, supplier coverage and uplift timing still vary by airport and by day, so confirm before departure rather than on arrival.
Can AAES arrange Avgas in Africa?
Yes, subject to the field. Avgas coverage across the continent is uneven. Tell us the route early and we will confirm which stops can supply it and which cannot.
Who pays the fuel supplier?
That depends on the arrangement you choose and on what the supplier accepts at that location. We confirm the accepted method in advance so the crew is not held up at the aircraft.
Does AAES supervise the uplift?
Yes. Our team attends the uplift, checks the delivery against the request and collects the documentation.
Can fuel be coordinated alongside permits and handling?
Yes. Most operators book fuel as part of a single request covering permits, ground handling and flight support. One desk, one point of contact.
